Dixie Shootout Series Set for Visit to the Huntsville Quarter Midget Association

Huntsville, Alabama (August 27, 2026) — The next generation of Southeast racers is heading to Alabama.

The Dixie Shootout Series, the Southeast regional division of the NASCAR Youth Series, is set to make its next stop at the Huntsville Quarter Midget Association on Saturday, August 29th, bringing some of the region’s best young racers to a facility that has found itself at the center of a much bigger story over the past year. For those who have followed the Alabama racing scene, the Huntsville QMA is more than just another stop on the schedule. It is a track that, not long ago, was staring directly at the possibility of losing its home.

The Huntsville Quarter Midget Association has been a fixture in Alabama youth racing for decades. The facility has provided generations of young racers with their first opportunity to climb behind the wheel and learn the fundamentals of competitive motorsports. But in 2025, the future of the facility became uncertain.

Disputes over a lease for the facility left things uncertain towards the end of the 2025, but a new lease was agreed upon and the track has returned to action for a promising 2026 season. Anyone interested in the saga concerning the track’s battle to stay alive last year can read the stories below.

Now, the story has taken a very different turn. Rather than quietly disappearing, Huntsville QMA is continuing to build its future, and that future includes some significant events. This weekend’s race date is one such event.

This weekend’s Dixie Shootout Series date is just one of the many events at the HQMA this season. The weekend will feature a whopping 13 divisions: Red Rookie, Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Heavy Honda, Blue Rookie, Light World Formula, Heavy World Formula, Junior Animal, Senior Animal, Heavy 160, Junior 160, Light 160, and Unrestricted Animal.

The upcoming Dixie Shootout Series is not the only huge event on the upcoming HQMA calendar, as they have also secured a NASCAR Youth Series date for Halloween weekend.
